Force of Love

This past week, many of us saw the destruction caused by Hurricane Florence. Rain and wind tore down trees and flooded large areas. In a matter of days, things were not as they once had been. A force of nature had left its mark. Such images and experiences are humbling for us. We are no match for these forces of nature and the power these storms have to cause destruction.

When I think of the immensity of God, I am also humbled. God is the ultimate force behind everything. God is almighty. Everything comes from God. Who are we in relation to God? The psalmist asks, “What are human beings that you are mindful of them?” (Ps. 8:4). It’s perplexing that our God, the Supreme power in the universe, seeks to be in relationship with us. It doesn’t always make sense, but I’m so glad God loves us!

So, if God is mightier than a hurricane and God is the Supreme Being then God’s love for us must be one of the strongest forces in existence. Romans 8:39 tells us that nothing can separate us from the love of God. There is nothing stronger than the power of God’s love. We experience God’s love daily and we are not the same because of it. God is stronger. Love is stronger. And God’s love can help us overcome any force of nature we face. Have faith in God and God’s love and we will see mountains move to reveal God’s glory.
