Plugged In For Others
“But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.” Ephesians 4:15
All of us are gifted with talents and abilities and we understand that God has a plan for how they can be used in ministry. However, sometimes we can be so focused on our individual faith and our individual calling that we lose sight of the ministry we are to do with others. Our faith isn’t just about us. Our faith calls us into community with others as we work to build up the body of Christ.
We are called to be good teammates and good team players. The church isn’t all about the pastor or the long-time members. And it’s not always about our own way. Each of us must humbly submit to the will of God and the movement of the Holy Spirit for our church. We must recognize the roles everyone plays in forming this beloved community around us. To be successful, we must plug into ministry for each other.
In many ways, the church is like a choir. We all have a unique voice but the success of the choir’s song is dependent on how well the voices blend together. If we try to be the diva, we may disrupt the harmony of the group. If we try to sing outside of our range, it won’t sound very good. But, if we work to cooperate with those around us, we can make beautiful music together. So, may we plug into this community with our gifts and talents while taking the time to work cooperatively with one another for the kingdom of God.
