Plugged Into Community
“In Christ the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord” Ephesians 2:21
Our world is more connected than ever. In the age of the internet, we have the whole world at our fingertips. Social media drives us to keep up with friends, neighbors, and acquaintances in ways we never have before. For better or worse, we have the ability to interact and keep in touch with so many people. However, our modern world continues to struggle with feelings of greater isolation and loneliness. It feels like we’ve lost a sense of genuine community.
While technology and social media are great tools for community building, the old fashioned ways prove to be the best. Nothing else compares to the face-to-face fellowship we experience at family gatherings, parties or get-togethers with friends, or at church worship services. Such moments give us a feeling of belonging and comfort. We laugh and cry together. We support one another through the good and the bad times.
As the church, our community is shaped by Jesus Christ. No matter our differences, it is Jesus who draws us together and “grows” us “into a holy temple in the Lord.” Jesus and his followers over many generations have laid a foundation for how we can grow together in love, service, and grace. And as our community is strengthened, we provide a healthy and safe space for those outside of the church. Whether this is your 1st service or your 4,000th, you are welcome here and you belong here. Stay plugged into community! And continue to seek ways to invite others into this sacred community.
