Walking in Christ's Footsteps: He Walks With Us
We have entered into the Lenten season as we journey together towards Holy Week and Easter. This Lent, we will be walking in the footsteps of Jesus. Lent is a time for us to refocus and reconnect with God’s Word and God’s call. It’s a time for us to recognize our flaws and work to overcome them through Jesus Christ. On Ash Wednesday, we began with repentance. Now, with clean hearts, we travel on this journey with open minds as God continues to shape and mold us.
We do not take this journey alone. Jesus’ life revealed to us how far God is willing to be present with us. Jesus was without sin, yet he chose to be baptized. God is above all creation, yet God chose to take on flesh and experience human weakness, even facing temptation without food or water in the dry and hot wilderness. Jesus has walked where we have walked and experienced the pain and hardship we struggle to bear. Jesus knows our experience and He chooses to remain with us through it all.
So, I hope that in this season of Lent we have set our hearts and minds on the ways of Christ. He travels with us to refine our ways and bring us to deeper understanding and faithfulness. No matter what we may be struggling with today, Jesus has been there and Jesus will be there for us in the midst of our struggle. We need to trust in Him. He will not lead us astray.
As we follow the gospel story and walk in the footsteps of Christ, we will see Christ more clearly in our everyday lives. We will see Christ’s power to heal, His ability to overcome temptation, and His great love for all people. Be prepared for this journey, pay attention to where Christ is leading and see how God can change you in our journey to the cross and the empty tomb. He walks with us.
